Understanding CBD Labels

For even the most experienced customers, CBD product labels can be a bit overwhelming. The technical terms and vernacular often found on these labels can be confusing for those unfamiliar with them. However, it’s important for customers to understand CBD labels to know what they’re actually buying. To better understand CBD labels, here are some things you should be on the lookout for.

CBD Dosage

One of the most important sections on a CBD label is the dosage information. This information will likely fall under the “supplement facts” tag that any product should have. The product should tell you the total amount of CBD that it holds in milligrams. Also significant to this conversation is the serving size and the servings per container. Looking at the serving size will inform you of what constitutes one serving.  You will also be told the amount of CBD per one serving. The servings per container informs you of how many servings that your product holds.

Product Manufacturing Date

A product’s manufacturing date will tell you how old it is. A newer CBD product is better in quality than one that is older. The quality of CBD diminishes over time so you will want to consume your product in a timely manner.

CBD Source

CBD product labels will include technical terms that may be confusing upon first glance. Terms like “broad spectrum, “CBD isolate”, and “full spectrum” will help tell you where your CBD comes from. CBD isolate is mostly made of CBD crystals. Full spectrum CBD includes cannabinoids like THC. Broad spectrum CBD includes hints of cannabinoids and terpenes, but does not include THC.

Avoid these CBD Ingredients

Read and examine the contents of the ingredients list of your CBD product. Be wary of potentially harmful additives for CBD vape pens, tinctures…etc, such as dextromethorphan (DXM) and 5F-ADB. There’s currently a lack of oversight with these sort of products which leads to potentially unsafe scenarios. Organic products that can be traced back to their source are typically safest.
