How to Store Your Weed to Make it Last Longer

If you live in Corona, Upland, Eastvale, or any of our other service areas, you can get convenient marijuana home delivery services online from Lucky Farms. However, once that cannabis delivery arrives at your door, it’s up to you to maintain its quality and extend its lifespan as best you can. If you won’t be using up all of your cannabis delivery right away, here are a few tips on the best ways to store your weed to make it last as long as possible.

Keep it at the right temperature

Residents of the Inland Empire know all too well how excruciatingly hot it can become in the summer. With temperatures regularly exceeding 100 degrees, the IE’s climate isn’t just uncomfortable for residents; it’s inhospitable for cannabis. High temperatures can cause your buds to dry out, which in turn causes terpenes to evaporate. This will likely result in your cannabis developing an unpleasant flavor after a few weeks or months of storage. In order to best preserve your cannabis delivery, keep the products in an environment that’s consistently between 32° and 68° Fahrenheit. However, it’s never recommended that you store your weed in the refrigerator or freezer, as this could cause mold or mildew growth.

Manage humidity levels

We warn our marijuana home delivery customers against storing their weed in the refrigerator because it creates an environment that is too moist. Excess moisture encourages the growth of mold, mildew, and other harmful microorganisms that will reduce the lifespan of your cannabis delivery. On the other hand, an excessively dry climate can cause the essential oils in your flower to dry out, and the terpenes may evaporate. This will not only make your cannabis less pleasant to consume, but it will also alter its effectiveness. The ideal range for relative humidity is between 59 and 63 percent. Avoid using tobacco humidors to control the humidity surrounding your cannabis; instead, use a tool like a hygrometer to periodically measure the humidity in the room and ensure it’s within a safe range.

Pay attention to light sources & settings

The final factor in your weed’s lifespan is the light settings under which your flower is kept. In fact, it’s widely understood that light is the biggest factor in marijuana degradation. If you keep your weed in direct sunlight, it will cause a severe and rapid loss of potency. Storing your marijuana in a light-proof container is the best way to preserve its potency and make it last as long as possible. Indirect sunlight isn’t as harsh as direct light, but it can still compromise the quality of your weed over time. Choose an opaque container for storage, or keep your flower inside of a drawer or cabinet where it won’t receive any direct or indirect sunlight.
