Al Franken Becomes 5th Cosponsor of New Cannabis Bill

Political pundits were surprised earlier this month when Senator Al Franken added his name to a bipartisan bill to allow states to implement and enact their own medical marijuana laws without federal interference. Despite many years spent writing inside the admittedly pot smoke ridden hallways of Saturday Night Live, Franken had never come out governmentally in favor of medical cannabis. But Washington was even more surprised earlier this week when Franken came out in favor of a second bill in just as many weeks. The new bill would allow for cannabis business to be farily taxed just like any other business operating in accordance with state law.
